Same here. She did a couple good things on defense but she's had virtually no offense. I wonder if she just needs more time to work things out? She's still on a minutes restriction until when I don't know.
I watched quite a few Storm plays where the guard was frustratingly trying to get a play going with players responding by clumsily moving around the court. (I really feel like we would have benefited from a solid vet PG in these moments, but I digress) I also saw some really good movement at times.
One thing that struck me offensively especially in the second half, is the over sharing of the ball trying to find “their spot” and either getting the time clock violation or forcing a bad shot…
CT’s rookie Leger Walker would then drive down the court and right into the paint and either score or flip it out to the corner for an open 3. The good thing is that they’re about as bad as we are at shooting 3s…a stronger team will make us pay in those moments.
I think especially when BG doesn't play the Sun are the worst team in the league, and unfortunately on this night so were the Storm, hopefully help is on the way (Awa) before next year. Note: seems a bad message when bench plays way more than starters, particularly in crunch time (and for both teams to do it at once!), seems coaches have little faith in starters or bad game plan, can't imagine Aces or Liberty etc. ever doing so (admittedly they have strong starting units), and yes this season is said to be a work-in-progress for the Storm, and (who cares) for the Sun/Comets as well.
I absolutely do not understand why Falu'Jae was on the bench. Coach's explanation - "flow of the game" - makes no sense to me. Can you explain that? I thought/think we definitely needed her speed and her shooting. We might have won!
yes, it was a strange game, I wish I had a clue what the 'flow of the game' actually was, saw lots of missed shots and turnovers (for both teams) but doubt they were part of the plan ..; are we previewing the leaders in the juju sweepstakes?
Also curious about this I don’t understand the reasoning of “flow of the game.” Is it because we have a second game and we were trying not to give too much away? Maybe holding our starters for when their starters are on the court?
I just don't know. Doesn't seem fair to Falu jae. Maybe trying to give the rest of the team time to show what they can do and how they fit in? but disappointing for the fans. We don't like to lose to the lowest-rated team in the league, and we were close to winning. Falu jae could have helped!
Benching your young star players in an effort to ‘tank’ will only get you disgruntled players. I’ve seen perpetual losing teams do this, but that’s why they’re perpetual losers, because no one wants to play for them. Let’s hope this isn’t the Storm’s angle, I doubt it is. But I also don’t have a good explanation for why they barely played 4 in the second half.
agreed, and disgusted fans, tanking is a really dumb idea, I'm hoping nobody is doing that cuz banking on tomorrow may never come to fruition, with injuries and everything else, I'm looking forward to seeing Awa join FJ and others on the floor (was going to capitalize those last 3 words for emphasis but thought it might be against the rules--smile)
This is the first time that I've had a major disagreement with Coach Raman's decisions. Leaving Flaújae Johnson on the bench for the entire 4th Quarter in favor of Lexie Brown who is known to turn the ball over a lot was just stupid. She cost us this game. Flaújae probably would have gotten another steal or more, played better defense and scored more than Lexie. "Flow of the game" is complete B.S.! We should have won this game!
Even though we didn't get the result that we wanted, I was really proud of Mackenzie Holmes and the job she did. 18 points beat her old high by a lot. She was battling all the way and I thought that she had more than the 6 boards that she was credited with. I thought that T was phenomenal, too. She almost won the game for us with her last-second 3-pointer that went in and then popped back out.
Getting a little concerned about Jordan Horston.

Horston is NOT WNBA material.
Gabby Williams was Dennis Rodman AND Scottie Pippen.
Horston is just Dennis Rodman. Without the showmanship.

We also seem to really struggle to end a quarter.
The rotations for both teams had me 🤔

I completely agree. We WOULD have won! I'm so angry. Big mistake!
She's shooting 26 percent

Well, okay, then. She just seems to bring so much energy and enthusiasm to the game.
We may not be trying to win.

The Box Score needs a stat for how many times Zia Cooke can drive into the key and immediately get tied up into a jump ball situation.

Joyner Holmes? Seriously?

You do not seem excited by the basketball equivalent of a rummage sale…
Awa is officially active! I now entirely selfishly hope she gets into the game tonight. And in unsurprising news: VanSlooten to Fever.
