Opportunity Knocks
Dominique Malonga, Awa Fam, and Flau'jae Johnson have answered.
The Seattle Storm sit at the bottom of the WNBA standings with a 6-25 record. But you’d never know it, spending time around the team and its players. They have found the joys of bonding with one another, building friendships, and developing chemistry on and off the court.
Life can often be about perspective. The young trio of Awa Fam, Flau’jae Johnson, and Dominique Malonga is in a unique situation. It’s rare for rookies, or in Dom’s case, a 20-year-old, to play this many minutes in the WNBA. The wins might not be there this season, but the opportunities are. Right now, that is more valuable.
Awa Fam is grateful for the experience at such a young age.
“I’m so happy for that. I’m so proud of me, but I’m so proud to be here in Seattle. I think that the coaches, Sonia, and all the coaches on the staff, for my teammates, they are giving me confidence from the first day. So it’s so nice to be in the starting five, playing minutes, being important on the team. So I’m so proud of that, and I’m so grateful for that.” Fam stated.
Flau’jae Johnson leans on her faith and believes it’s her destiny.
