Storm Battle but Lose to Liberty 92-86

Seattle lost their 10th game in a row on Wednesday evening.

(Brooklyn, New York) - Another slow start for the Seattle Storm (6-27) put the team behind the 8-ball again. They trailed 21-6 in the first quarter. To their credit, they battled back and tied the game at 50-50 in the third period, but New York used a 12-2 run to reclaim a substantial lead. Seattle fought but came up short, falling to the Liberty 92-86. This was Seattle’s 10th loss in a row, and the second time this season that they’ve had a 10-game losing streak.

French Phenom, Dominique Malonga, led the way for Seattle with 31 points on 14-20 FG and pulled down 10 rebounds. She also had three assists, two steals, and a block for good measure. Jade Melbourne had one of her better games of the season with 13 points and seven assists. Awa Fam added 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Flau’jae Johnson chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Seattle outshot New York 46% (36-79 FG) to 44% (33-75 FG). They were more efficient from beyond the arc as well, 32% on 7-22 FG compared to 24% on 7-29 FG. The free throw line was the main differentiator as the Liberty made 91% from the line and outscored Seattle by 12.
