Storm Crush the Wings 95-60
Seattle picks up their third win in the last four games.
(Arlington, Texas) - The Seattle Storm (19-18) got a modicum of revenge against the Dallas Wings (9-28) after Dallas handed Seattle arguably their most embarrassing loss of the season back on July 22nd, by a final score of 87-63. The Storm returned the favor with a 35-point beatdown on the Wings’ homecourt (95-60). It was Seattle’s third win in their last four games, after they ended their six-game losing streak.
It was a historic performance for this team as they set a new franchise record with 62 bench points. Seattle’s reserves outscored Dallas’ bench 62-28. Their bench outscored Dallas’ entire team (62-60). That’s the first time in WNBA history that one team’s reserves completely outscored the other team.
Seattle led by 22 points entering the 4th quarter. That allowed Skylar Diggins, Gabby Williams, and Brittney Sykes to rest the entire period. Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor also played two minutes or fewer in the final frame. Dominique Malonga, Tiffany Mitchell, and Lexie Brown played the full 10 minutes. Zia Cooke and Mackenzie Holmes also got some run during the blowout.
Malonga led the team in scoring with 22 points on 10-12 FG shooting. She also had nine rebounds and three blocks. She was also a game-best +28 in plus/minus. Dominique now has more 20-point games than any other teenager in WNBA history.
Erica Wheeler had her best game since returning to the bench after the Brittney Sykes trade. Wheeler finished with 17 points on 75% (6-8 FG), including 4-6 FG from beyond the arc. Wheeler also had four assists and two steals in just 20 minutes of action.
Tiffany Mitchell was the only other player to score in double figures for Seattle. She finished with 11 points on 5-7 FG. Gabby Williams had nine points and Brittney Sykes added eight more. Those two led the starters. No starter for Seattle played more than 22 minutes.
The Storm outshot the Wings 56% (36-64 FG) to 30% (20-67 FG). They also doubled Dallas’ three-point field goal makes (8-21 FG to 4-23 FG). They outscored Dallas 48-28 inside the paint. They also had a 24-7 advantage in fast break points. Seattle also forced Dallas into 18 turnovers, while only committing eight, and they outscored them 21-3 in points off turnovers.
Dallas Wings
After her historic performance against the LA Sparks, where Paige Bueckers scored a career-high 44 points (the most of any WNBA player this season), Bueckers struggled against the Storm. She finished 11 points on 2-7 FG. Paige didn’t play in the 4th quarter with her team trailing by 20-30 points.
Maddy Siegrist had the best performance for the Wings. She finished with 12 points on 50% (6-12 FG) shooting and five rebounds. Diamond Miller, who was recently traded from Minnesota for DiJonai Carrington, added eight points off the bench.
Arike Ogunbowale was out with an injury. Li Yueru also missed the game and is out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.
The Wings out-rebounded Seattle 36-30. They had an 8-2 advantage in offensive rebounds, and outscored the Storm 14-0 in second-chance points.
Dallas was recently officially eliminated from the playoffs. Unless they go on a big win streak to end the season, the Wings will have the best odds to land the #1 overall pick for the 2026 WNBA Draft, after selecting Paige Bueckers number one this season.

Up Next
The Seattle Storm (19-18) continue their five-game road trip as they head to the Nation’s Capital. They play the Washington Mystics (16-20) on Sunday, August 24th. The Mystics are 2-0 against Seattle this year. They won 74-69 in Seattle and 69-58 in Washington, D.C. However, both of those games were when Brittney Sykes was still with the Mystics. This is pretty much a must-win for both teams. If the Mystics lose, their chances of reaching the playoffs would be nearly over. They would be on the brink of elimination. However, if the Storm lose, they might drop out of the 8th and final playoff spot.

Oh what a relief it is! It's so nice to get a blowout win even though Dallas had 4 players out injured including Li Yueru and Arikè Ogunbowale. Now we have to keep our small winning streak going against the Mystics on Sunday so we can still make the playoffs. I loved that Dom was our leading scorer and I think that she had another double-double. I was counting her rebounds and I think that she had 11 but they only gave her credit for 9. Maybe one was a team rebound but that still would have given her 10. I love seeing Dom become more DOMinant!! I think that she can start taking over games and she'll be a real problem for other teams in the playoffs. It's also nice to see EW get back on track shooting like we know she can. That was sweet.
I wonder:
Has any pair of teams ever exchanged blowouts like this in a single season?
Is there any other bench player in the league with more 20 point games than Dom? 6POY?
