Also Dom had 8 boards in like justv10 minutes and was getting position down low! I noticed her sneaking in.to out position opposing players boxing them out for offensive rebounds. Did you notice that? It paid off because she got some buckets down low. I also noticed that Nneke is great at feeding her from the wing. Nneke is such a high IQ Hooper.
Dom’s height and length/wingspan definitely give her an advantage in gathering rebounds. Now it’s just about getting into position and using her body more. I like that she’s not afraid to mix it up. When she took over in that New York game, she bullied Stewie down low and I was really impressed with that. I’m excited to see her continue to grow into her body, develop more muscle and strength, and hopefully, she can be physical like Jonquel one day. I don’t think she’ll be quite that big, but if she’s already moving Stewie out of the way, she has that potential.
Can someone please teach Dom how to use a little jump hook keeping her body between the defender? If she learns that she'll be damn near unstoppable and unblockable. Same goes for Ezi. They keep trying to turn into the defender and shoot. Both have over 7 foot wing spans and need to learn a jump hook! Storm hire me! I'll teach them for free!! Low post was my game. 😉
We just saw Tina Charles use the jump hook effectively over these past two games. I agree that taller posts should work on it and implement it into their game. I wonder if they don’t because maybe it’s more difficult to be accurate with it. I’m not certain. Tina Charles uses it, but she’s of an older generation, and we don’t see a lot of players use it anymore.
Charles just scored 8000 points! Shoot hire her in the off-season to come teach these ladies. Someone has to. I'm cheap because I would do it for nothing! Lol
You would think Ezi would be like, "Dam she just dominated me using that jump hook, I should probably work that into my game!"
It's more accurate then getting stuffed! Plus two additional things happen. 1. You could get fouled and go to the line.2. If you miss you OR your teammates could get the offensive board.
If you practice it your accuracy will increase just like with anything else. Those two women have arms that can reach the top of the Soace Needle! Definitely should be implemented into their game! Kareem scored 40,000 points using a skyhook.
They should also learn ball fakes to get the defensive off the ground and work on their up and under moves. Since their so tall keep the ball high not bring it down for the pesky guards to swipe at. Dom has had some issues with that. Bringing the ball down. Keep it high girl! You're 6-6!
Alyssa Clark also uses a jump hook in her game. Except she's not 6-6 6-4 with a 7 foot wing span. But she has that in her bag of tricks from being a post player in college.
They did yesterday, but also I think she played more since Skylar only played a little over 25 mins since she was in foul trouble. That meant Wheeler and occasionally Gabby had to play the point, and that meant there was mins for another wing. I think Mitchell also took some of Cooke’s minutes. If I recall, Zia went in early but never was put back out there. Mitchell played well for them, so I thought it was appropriate that she got as much run as she did.
Tiffany Mitchell is instantly the best guard off the bench. Zia Cooke came in first in the first half, but it became immediately obvious that Mitchell was better and Cooke did not play at all in the second half (except the last 30 seconds). So that's where Mitchell's minutes will mostly come from. She might also let them play less AC, especially in matchups where Noey trusts Dom (which she should talk herself into doing more often, in my opinion). At 38 years old I think AC can only play maybe 15 effective minutes a game anyway, so this is all good.

Are Mitchell’s minutes coming at the expense of AC’s?
