This game was fun. I was so happy for Zia! A lot of other players didn’t score until the second half, Dolson, Lexie, I think Joyner Holmes, hopefully we can get more players involved sooner. We do so well when Flau’jae and Zia are in friendly competition for leading scorer. Jordan looks better every game.
Do you think we’ll have Awa in by Sunday? Fingers crossed bc we need another tall big if we want a chance of out-battling Kiki and Betts in the paint.
If I had to guess, I think Awa wants to play on Sunday, but I think it's more likely she plays on Wednesday, once she's had more rest and been able to learn more of the team's systems. For what it's worth, Awa said she's 19 and that she isn't tired during her introductory press conference.
It was nice to see Joyner Holmes contribute right away. I expected to see more of Mackenzie Holmes after her breakthrough game on Wednesday. Zia was really cooking and so was Flaújae! They're very exciting players! Jade did well, too, as did Natisha Hiedeman.
This was a very exciting win for us! Zia was on fiyah!! And Flaújae showed why she is so important to our success and why it was such a big mistake to not play her in the 4th Quarter last game. T was consistent and productive as usual. Dom needs to play on Sunday. She's had aplenty of rest for a minor concussion. I'm hoping that we get to see Awa, too, against the Mystics but we may not. This was a satisfying win!
I don't think there is any such thing as a "minor concussion". And the fact that it was Malonga's 2nd concussion in the span of two months is pretty serious. There have been multiple pro athletes who have had their careers ended prematurely due to concussions. Dom definitely doesn't need to play on Sunday, and I don't expect that she will. She'll probably miss at least a few more games, because otherwise they wouldn't have signed Joyner Holmes. I expect Awa will suit up before Dom does. The Storm still have 38 more games to play this season. It's OK if Dom misses a few more. The most important thing is her long-term health.
For me, the signing of Joyner Holmes on a hardship contract telegraphs that it was more than a “minor concussion”. While I’m hopeful Dom returns soon, I also am fine with being cautious in one of our key future players.

I don't think Awa will play Sunday. She's come off an exhausting schedule in Spain. Big shout out to Heidemann and Melbourne, too.
