I’m not worried about Jordan Horston. She was a work in progress with respect to her shooting even before her injury. She looks like she has regained her lateral mobility so that’s a huge plus. She gives 100% effort when she’s on the floor and she’s one of my favorite players. But let’s face it - she lost a year’s worth of development/progression re: her shooting. Give her time.
Not too much to take from this one other than in order to be competitive this team will need time to gel and certain players will need to get healthy and/or join the lineup. I expect them to get cooked by Indiana on Sunday and maybe split the home series vs Connecticut. Looking for some signs of good coaching meanwhile. Maybe overperforming vs the oddsmakers or stealing one vs a good team like Portland did vs New York.
Too bad Lexie Brown couldn't keep up her hot shooting. We needed an answer to Marina Mabry. Dom had a pretty nice game with decent scoring and okay rebounding but we needed a lot more rebounding and a lot fewer turnovers. I was surprised that the Storm assigned an outside player to the DS. I thought that that spot was being reserved for either Grace VanSlooten or Mackenzie Holmes once Awa Fam shows up in Seattle. Now one of them will have to be cut from the team once Awa arrives unless the team decides to finally unload Lexie Brown instead.
Go on YouTube and watch some highlight videos of Thierry when she played at Ohio State. She’s described as a “defensive specialist” yet this woman can shoot from long range!
Norm, thank you so much for directing me to Taylor Thierry's Ohio State highlights. I watched close to 2 hours worth and she looks like a pretty incredible player. She's 6'1" so she has good height, she gets a lot of steals and they said at one point that she was shooting 45% from deep. I wasn't sure if she was playing guard or forward for them (I think forward), but it doesn't really matter. She looks like she can play in the W. I understand why the Storm wanted her.

agreed re: Tempo finish, I have 'em at 11th but we'll see, I do like Sandy's coaching, and Mabrey is starting out hot

Agreed. There will be a lot of incremental wins this season.

Exactly! There’s a lot to like there.
Then again she was only a 3rd round pick last year.
Thanks, Norman. I will definitely check her out.
