Nothing concrete. In the pre-game, Quinn said they didn't think it was too serious. But the Storm are always coy with injuries. When Stewie partially tore her Achilles tendon for the 2nd time in 2021, they never confirmed that for the rest of the season. And tried to indicate that she could come back if they got further into the playoffs, but that was never going to happen. We'll have to see what happens. I wouldn't be surprised if she misses Monday's game, since it's such a short turnaround. If she is out for the New York game and especially the Golden State game, there should be concern that she could miss the playoffs. Ideally, that won't happen as they're going to need her to make any significant playoff run.
I'd like to congratulate your intern, Jack Norris, Jeff, on an article well written and a job well done. I could not tell that it wasn't you writing the game recap.
Kudos to the Storm for making 100% of their free throws (18-18) while the Sky missed 11 of their 25 free throw attempts. That was the difference in the game. Incredible.
I'm really glad that the Storm were able to break their jinx of 6 straight home losses. The game was closer than it should have been primarily because we didn't have Dominique Malonga available. Without her we only have 2 post players in Nneka and Ezi other than MacKenzie Holmes who was pressed into service in Dom's absence. I love her cheerleading from the bench, but she's a poor substitute for Dom.
We are now highly reliant on Dom to be a star for us off the bench, giving us those double doubles or close to them. I think our playoff hopes will rely on everybody playing their best but especially Dom. I really hope that her wrist injury is nothing serious because we'll definitely need Dom at her best against LA. We cannot lose another game to them and further screw up our 2026 WNBA Draft prospects.
I am wondering if you felt the same way about Dom back in early May? She is an AMAZING talent but it was only after getting consistent minutes did she start to flourish.
Mackenzie has been a great supporter of her teammates, unselfishly “cheering” them on every game. However, she was not a 1st team All American and Wooden Award finalist (with Boston, Clark, Siegrist, Brink) for no reason. Not saying she is going to produce Dom like numbers but if called on she will give much more than “cheerleader” value.
I definitely felt that way about Dom back in May. I've been advocating for her to be given a bigger role from the jump almost after every game if you've followed the comments here for very long. I've also been a big advocate of Mckenzie Holmes since the preseason. I wanted her to be among the 11 players that were kept on the team to start the season but Zia Cooke edged her out. Unfortunately she hasn't been given much of a role so far. I hope that her role will grow because she was great in College. I thought the Storm were lucky to be able to get her in the 3rd round. If she can become an enforcer she could get some run in the playoffs. Here's hoping. And I love the way she jumps up and down from the bench and cheers her teammates on. She's the best.
Just a heads up, Part 2 will be out later today. I had written a lot, but ran out of steam around 1:30 AM, and wanted to write more.
Any news on the seriousness of.Dom's injury?

A great recap of the game by your intern.

100% agree. Well said.
My thoughts as well. I'm also hoping for an expanded role for her.
I meant no offense to Mackenzie by the way.

Correction: Mackenzie Holmes!
