She hurt her other knee playing for Croatia 2 weeks ago. I haven't heard an official diagnosis or timeline yet, but I certainly hope the Storm have because they need to decide whether to protect her by tomorrow ...
I saw that. I got impression it wasn’t so bad, but ya never know. Either way she isn’t getting protected. Not with the 5 we have. I just wonder more about her vs. who we draft.
I don't think the Storm have necessarily given up on her, but as you mentioned I don't see any way they use one of their 5 spots to protect her in the expansion draft. As Randy mentioned, sadly, Nika is hurt again. I don't think I've seen any confirmation on the severity, but I don't believe she has played since then.
I also don't believe Mühl has shown anything in the WNBA that would have the Storm ignoring players like Olivia Miles or Kiki Rice. We aren't even sure if Nika can be a solid backup PG in this league, let alone being the starting point guard of a potential playoff team.
I do think that if Mühl isn't too injured to play this season and doesn't get drafted in the Expansion Draft, she will probably still make the team.
Appreciate the response. I feel the same. She is kind of a “why not” especially with the expanded rosters. She also comes with quite a fan following, which can be helpful.
If she was healthy I actually think she's a totally reasonable candidate to protect just because she's on a rookie contract (and will be for a while). Very few of our unrestricted free agents are candidates to be drafted because they aren't good enough to Core, and of the handful of players on contracts I think we'd be happy to lose Lexie Brown. So Nika isn't one of our 5 best players but she might be one of our 5 best contracts. (Not if she's hurt though.)
Any updated thoughts on the draft given all that has occurred the last couple of days? Dallas, Minnesota, and certainly Seattle look much different now.
These are great, thank you!
For the PG future are the Storm moving on from Nika before she even got started?

What do you mean about the fan following being helpful?
Helpful to the team with regards to fan following and revenue.

Did you accidentally cut and paste part 1 again?
I linked it at the top, otherwise, these answers are from different people.
Oh it's the same questions but different media members. I was so confused ...
