A bit unrelated, but we drafted jordan horston on a 4 year rookie contract. She played 2 years and didn't play last year when she tore her acl and we suspended her contract. Now that she will be back, will this be the last year on her contract or will she have 2026+2027 left on the storm?

Jeff can correct me if I'm wrong (and this could have changed with the new CBA) but my understanding is that having her contract suspended for a whole season means that 2024 won't count as a year of service and she'll be on the Storm through 2027 on her rookie contract (unless they waive/trade her, obvs).

Per HerHoopStats, which I trust the most with contract info, Jordan Horston is under contract this season and then becomes a Reserved Free Agent in 2027. That means that if she plays in the WNBA, she has to sign a deal with the Storm.

Unrestricted Free Agents can sign with any team for any amount. Restricted Free Agents can sign with any team, but the original team has the right to match any offer. Reserved Free Agents can only sign a deal with their original team.

Sadly, it'll take a fourth year to find out if she is actually a WNBA-caliber player. Also won't miss the Nika stans.

Nope, not sad. The Storm got zero production from Nika, unfortunately. Wish her well.

Won't miss the Nika stans. They can go bother Portland now.

YES!!! Agreed. My friends call me a hater but the level of fanfare to performance mediocrity was nauseating.

Those free agency dates are not official. They were what the league guessed/projected before the CBA was agreed to. But the new CBA isn't official yet. While both sides have agreed to the term sheet, they're still writing the long form of the agreement and so it isn't official/hasn't kicked in yet.
