It’s gonna take me a minute to get used to Gabby Williams in a GSV jersey. But so heartwarming to see the obvious affection between her and Ezi & Dom. Seattle loves you Gabby! ♥️

Great analysis! And you're right, Jade's communication here is really impressive.

So funny to hear 23 year old Jade talking about “a young, inexperienced group!” Grizzled veteran that she is…

I have also been yelling at this same cloud for the past few years. A well-timed three can certainly be a thing of beauty. However, a game consisting of three after three after three is just DULL. I've always loved a true back to the basket big and great isolation players. It's what makes basketball poetic for me. Chucking up threes each time down the court just seems so mechanical. Three point shooting is a mechanical skill that with practice and technique can be achieved by many players. To me, the artistry of basketball has always been in a well executed play, the improvisational skill that the isolation game lends itself to - not to mention the footwork of a big breaking down their defense under the basket.

So, in short, I raise my glass of Ensure to you, sir.

"My glass of Ensure" is hilarious! ^_^

There is nothing wrong with some good three-point shooting. But non-stop chucking up 3's just because analytics says that's the smart thing to do does not make for an entertaining game of basketball.

Jeff… your “count me out” statement sort of took me by surprise. It’s pretty clear that a winning basketball team still has to score more points than a losing basketball team. Ergo: you need to get the ball through the hoop! Last night the Valkyries not only shot lights out from beyond the three, they repeatedly broke down Seattle’s defense with mismatches inside (at least that part should change in the 2nd half of the season with Fam and Magbegor on the court). To use your vernacular, long term I’m still buying stock in the Seattle Storm - there’s so much to like! But if I take my rose-colored “homer glasses” off for a while, I see players that have been waived by the Valkryies that I believe are better than some of the players on the bottom third of the Storm roster. One of those players is Kate Martin who has been waived. Another one is Miela Sowah who is on the Golden State developmental squad and potentially available to poach in about ten more days. And anyone who does not know who she is did not watch her wreck the Storm with 4-for-4 shooting from beyond the 3-pt line during the Storm v. Valkryies preseason game. Why would you keep a 31-year-old Lexie Brown on your roster instead of someone like Miele Sowah?

Regarding the "Count me out!" comment, this is specific to my stance on if the WNBA were to eliminate all post plays, all midrange jumpers, all cuts to the rim, and just shoot 40-50 three-pointers each game because the analytics suggest this is the smart way to play basketball.

I’m curious as to what you value about Kate Martin?

I agree there seems to be a lot of ado for a player who shot 32% from the field and 30% from the field last year

There’s no way I could see her as a meaningful upgrade over what the Storm already has at the 2/3 positions, or at three of the guard positions. Charitably, she *might* be an improvement over Lexie. Defensively, she’s better than I am, but I’m not on the roster…
