It's not a measurable stat (I don't think so at least), but the Storm seem to have terrible luck at getting loose balls and long rebounds, and Sykes always seems to be in great position for those situations. Pretty hyped. Also, the perimeter defense should be fun to watch.
I think this is a good move. Although we have played poorly of late, we are still well in contention. Trying to make a run this year is still exciting with all of the injuries around the league. I was very excited with our three first rounders for next year, but I don’t think the Storm would have wanted three rookies in the team anyway, as they haven’t shown desire to be a very young team. I know anything is possible with roster construction next year, so trading away our potential worst pick for next year, and hoping that we manage to keep the core of our team together, while still going all in this year is the best of both worlds.
Overall, I think she's a solid pickup. I am excited about her defense but she can sometimes be a ball hog and put up shots that don't make sense. If the Storm can reign that in a bit, she'll be a good piece to help get us out of this disappointing rut.
Really seems like a wasted opportunity. They were going to restart with 3 first round picks, and a core of young players. Now they have wasted one of those picks on Sykes. I love Nneka, Skyler and Gabby, but they are not a championship core. It’s foolish to pretend they are.
I am very excited that we are adding a player of the caliber of a Brittney Sykes. Now all we have to do to make it all worthwhile is win 8 out of our next 10 games! We may be able to get home court advantage in the playoffs by only winning 6 out of our next 10 but I wouldn't bet on it and 8 out of our next 10 games are on the road so it's not going to be easy.
At this point I really hope we don't trade any draft picks for a one-month rental of anyone.
I might have to eat crow a little bit, because I didn't think it would be a player of this caliber, and we got her for pieces we aren't even using.
Although it's unlikely we'd carry 3 first-round rookies next year, having 3 shots at it would have been good. That way you don't have to hit on all of them, or you could draft and stash a young foreign player.

And we could for sure benefit from her whistle.

Great player, however I don't see this move getting them over the hump unless they traded their coaching staff as well.

On an earlier post I said
